Katie Roberts creates artwork in painting, drawing, mixed media, and video that materialize her inner and outer experiences as a mother and woman. Whether it is working with domestic objects in a dialogue with art history, portraying raw emotion and questioning through video, or intervening in found images, Roberts engages and questions cultural constructs, events, and emotional experiences to reflect and to reveal the hidden aspects of raising a child, being a woman, and remaining authentic to herself. Roberts earned a BA in art history from Princeton University in 1998, and a MEd in art education from the University of Houston in 2003. Since 2006, she has been participating in art workshops in Italy, South Africa, and on Zoom with Rose Shakinovsky and Claire Gavronsky. Roberts currently lives and makes art in Asheville, North Carolina.
