BIO
Melissa Morris (1968 Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator who lives and works in Florence, Italy. She uses the languages of painting and drawing to address our ways of making sense of the world, looking to self-organizing systems and structures that emerge out of patterns of thought for the use of line, and considering color a form of thinking. She received her MFA from SACI (Florence, Italy) and her BA from the University of Michigan, and takes part in ongoing international artists residencies with her teachers, Rose Shakinovsky and Claire Gavronsky (also known as the artist duo rosenclaire). She has lectured at Syracuse University in Florence and the Siena Art Institute. Her work has been shown internationally and is held in private collections.
