Regan Wheat is an artist-educator based in Florence, Italy. She works within the imagined space of language, the forgotten histories contained within collective memory, and with the collapse of cultural, socio-political, and historical structures that seem to hold meaning in place. Her work archives the missing within language, history, and place - she marks the gap or the shift between meaning and understanding. In this series of paintings, States of Play, she is referring to the current status or condition of global politics while honoring the silent witnesses, at play, in conflict zones.
